Swansea City have confirmed the signing of Portugal striker Nelson Oliveira on loan for the rest of the season.
Oliveira, 23, will move to the Liberty Stadium from Benfica on January 1.
The 14-cap forward will add to Garry Monk s striking options with top scorer Wilfried Bony set to represent the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, which could keep him out until mid-February.
Although ineligible to make his Swansea debut until their New Year s Day trip to QPR, Oliveira is confident of hitting the ground running due to an extended spell in training with the Premier League side.
I m really looking forward to it, Oliveira told the club s official website.
I already know quite a bit about Swansea and it was their style of play and the ambience at the club that attracted me. It was an easy decision to make.
The deal was agreed early so I can spend an extra 10 days in Swansea training with the squad and getting to know my new team-mates.
That way I hope to be ready to offer my services to the team that much earlier.
I want to prepare properly for the challenge. It s going to be a big challenge because I have a lot of respect for fellow strikers Wilfried Bony and Bafetimbi Gomis.
I have to earn the right and respect from the manager and my team-mates on the training ground to play. But I m highly motivated to score goals and help the team.
Oliveira has made just 24 appearances for Benfica since making his debut in October 2011, spending time on loan at Rio Ave, Pacos Ferreira, Deportivo La Coruna and Rennes.
